U.S. Nuclear-Capable B-52 Bomber Crashes in California, Killing 8 Crew Members
A U.S. B-52 nuclear-capable bomber crashed at Edwards Air Force Base in the state of California, resulting in the deaths of eight aircrew members.
The aircraft crashed at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026 (U.S. time), shortly after takeoff.
The crash occurred during a training flight. The cause has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
It is worth noting that the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is a long-range, heavy bomber capable of carrying nuclear weapons. It has served as a key component of the United States’ strategic nuclear deterrent force since 1955.
The B-52 performs a dual-capable role, maintaining the ability to deliver both conventional munitions and long-range nuclear weapons.
