Trump Says Peace Agreement with Iran Will Be Signed This Sunday, but Iran Denies It
U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistani mediators have said that an initial agreement aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East will be signed this Sunday. However, Iran has rejected the claim, stating that a signing is not expected to take place so quickly.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the two sides have agreed on a framework for a peace agreement and that Islamabad is preparing for an electronic signing ceremony on Sunday. Technical-level meetings are expected to follow next week.
President Trump stated on social media that, once the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will be fully reopened.
