Othsman Hassan, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and President of the Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (CMDF), attends a meeting on ‘Brotherhood and Solidarity’ organised by IGMG in Germany last Sunday.

Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and President of the Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (CMDF) Othsman Hassan has called for enhanced cooperation on humanitarian efforts within Cambodia.

The appeal was made during his attendance at a meeting on “Brotherhood and Solidarity” held in Germany last Sunday.

The meeting, made possible by the collaboration of the Islamic Community Milli Gorus (IGMG) and Hesene International – under the umbrella of IGMG – drew nearly 30,000 participants from 43 countries across the world.

During the event, Hassan requested IGMG President Kemal Ergun to explore the possibility of establishing a Hasene branch in Cambodia. The initiative aims to bolster ties, extend assistance, and expand humanitarian activities in the country, acknowledging the organisation’s important past contributions.

In response, Ergun expressed keen interest in setting up a branch in Cambodia, reflecting the organisation’s active global presence.

Speaking at the meeting, Othsman praised the progress achieved in all areas under the wise leadership of Mr Hun Sen, the former Prime Minister, particularly in promoting racial and religious harmony across Cambodia. He highlighted that such efforts have fostered an environment free of racial and religious discrimination.

He added that the Islamic community in Cambodia has received substantial support and recognition from the government, which includes the integration of Khmer Muslim representatives in legislative and administrative roles at both national and sub-national levels.

Hasene International cooperates with nearly 100 countries, including Cambodia, through partnerships with CMDF and the Cambodian Islamic Medical Association (IMAC), to facilitate various initiatives, such as emergency relief, a donation programme for orphans, and other support, amounting to over $2 million.
