Somdech Hun Sen congratulates To Lam on re-election as Vietnam’s CPV Gen Sec

Senate President and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President Hun Sen has extended warm congratulations to To Lam following his re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) at the party’s 14th National Congress, reaffirming strong party-to-party ties and bilateral relations between Cambodia and Vietnam.
In a congratulatory letter sent from Phnom Penh on Friday, Mr Hun Sen expressed his delight at learning of Lam’s re-election to what he described as the “supreme position” within the CPV, calling it a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust placed in Lam’s leadership by the party and the Vietnamese people.
“Your re-election… is a clear testament to the strong confidence and trust that the CPV and the people of Vietnam place in your wise and competent leadership and guidance in national development,” Mr Hun Sen wrote, noting that Vietnam continues to enjoy sustained peace, stability and growing prosperity, while enhancing its prestige and role at both regional and international levels.
Mr Hun Sen conveyed his belief that under Lam’s “righteous, far-sighted and forward-looking leadership,” the CPV would secure even greater support from the Vietnamese people, and achieve further success in implementing the policies and decisions adopted at the 14th National Congress.
The letter also underscored Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening long-standing ties between the two ruling parties and their respective countries.
Mr Hun Sen voiced confidence that through joint efforts, both sides would further deepen the bonds of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term stability.”
Mr Hun Sen and Lam have regularly engaged in high-level meetings, both in person and via phone, to strengthen cooperation between the CPP and CPV.KhmerTime
