The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration have issued a blanket ban on all forms of smoking on Phnom Penh’s popular ‘Walk Street’.
Phnom Penh Municipal Administration state that the Chaktomuk Pedestrian Street project along Sisowath Avenue (from Street 94 to Street 240) in Daun Penh District, Phnom Penh, has been launched every weekend from 6:00 PM to 1:00 PM since February 1, 2025, receiving praise and recognition as a new nightlife destination for Phnom Penh.
In order to promote a clean, green, safe tourism sector and transform it into a vibrant, competitive, and sustainable tourism destination, contributing to reducing the health, socio-economic, and environmental impacts of cigarette smoke or tobacco products, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration would like to advise business owners, tourism service providers, traders, and all citizens as follows:
First: Smoking or inhaling tobacco products is prohibited in public areas, on streets, in public parks, including in front of restaurants or shops along Sisowath Avenue, during the times and hours designated for pedestrian traffic.
Second: No smoking signs must be posted in places where smoking or tobacco product smoke is prohibited, clearly visible and in sufficient numbers according to the actual location.
Third: Prohibit advertising and display of all types of tobacco products in all forms.
4th: Prohibit the use, distribution, and trading of all types of electronic smoking devices anywhere on the Chaktomuk Pedestrian Street, including electronic cigarettes (E-Cigarettes) or VAPE, HTP products, and Shisha, etc.
5th: All departments and units, Daun Penh District Administration, and relevant Sangkat Administrations must pay attention to widely publicizing this to restaurant owners, shop owners, businessmen, and citizens who come to stroll along Chaktomuk Pedestrian Street and participate in implementing this instruction effectively.6: Please, business owners, tourism service owners, traders, and citizens, participate in implementing these instructions in accordance with the law and applicable legal regulations.KhmerTime
