Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, on the night of April 18, confirmed that 78 Cambodians who brokers cheated to work in Saudi Arabia have been successfully rescued and are being prepared to fly back to Cambodia.
Heng Sour stated: “Preliminary information on the case of 78 Cambodians who brokers cheated to work in Saudi Arabia in the past, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as the Cambodian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, who has a residence in Egypt, has successfully contacted the rescue and is preparing plane tickets for them to return to Cambodia on April 19, 29 people, on April 20, 27 people, and the last day is April 21, 2024, 22 people.”
Of the 78 residents, 51 are in Jeddah, 15 are in Riyadh, and 12 are in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. All citizens are now in a safe gathering place, awaiting their return to Cambodia. During this waiting period, Ouk Sarun, Cambodian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, will provide food and accommodation. This is according to Heng Sour.
