Techo International Airport ready to be launched in mid-2025

As of the end of July 2024, the construction project of Techo International Airport has achieved more than 80% with a total cost of about 1.2 billion dollars and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.

The confirmation on the progress of Cambodia and Phnom Penh’s new Airport came from Sin Chansery Vutha, Secretary of State and Spokesman of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia.

He added that after the completion of construction at the end of 2024, if nothing changes, Techo International Airport will be officially inaugurated in mid-2025.

The project to build Techo International Airport has been authorized by the Royal Government to CAIC, a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and OCIC to build and develop Techo International Airport in Kandal and Takeo provinces on an area of ​​2 600 hectares, located more than 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh.

Techo International Airport is a 4F Airport that can absorb and receive long-haul transcontinental flights that can accommodate giant aircraft up to the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800.

As of now, the total number of employees working is about 15,400 (90% Khmer).

Mr. Sin Chanserivutha also stated that in the first 7 months of 2024, the three airports, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville received more than 30,000 flights (in one direction).

The amount has increased by about 13% compared to the same period in 2023

The airports received more than 3 million passengers (in both directions), an increase of about 20%.

The entry and exit of goods (bilateral) by air was more than 42 million kilograms, an increase of about 44%.
