Diana Pang, President of the International Economic Strategy Research Institute of the People’s Republic of China, led a delegation comprising investors, film experts, and actors on a courtesy call to meet Pheaktra on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Pheaktra expressed his support for the film, highlighting its goal to showcase the growth and genuine development of Phnom Penh while countering negative and misleading information that harms Cambodia’s reputation.
Pang said the delegation members have plenty of experience in producing documentaries that have educated people about China and showcased China to the world.
Pheaktra welcomes and supports the project, which aims to showcase and promote Cambodia’s reputation, including the economic and tourism potential of Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh.
The film aims to give the real image of Cambodia and build trust with tourists and investors globally. Moreover, the film will show the peaceful, safe environment and stable development in the country.
According to the Ministry spokesman Tep Asnarith, the film unit will set the timeline soon.
“According to the Institute’s team they have not set an exact start date for shooting but it will be soon,” he said.
Asnarith added the project will showcase the environment for the tourists and investors, which has been stable for more than 45 years.
“The documentary will promote Cambodia’s tourist attractions to attract more visitors and investment, and as an economic environment favourable for foreign investors,” he said.
“The project is an important part of promoting the reality in Cambodia, particularly peace and political stability, which is the foundation of the social-economic development over 45 years, which has advanced rapidly due to a favourable investment environment, a supportive commercial infrastructure network and a competitive workforce,” he added.
“The documentary film will feature interviews with investors explaining the good investment environment and opportunities to invest in Cambodia, and interviews with tourists on the warm welcoming and happy environment and safety they experience in the country.
