CamEd Public Speaking and Debate Club members Sleh Ryan, Ung Khemara Bormeychan, and Seang Theansoeng won the JCI ASPAC Debate Championship 2026 in Niigata City, Japan, yesterday.

The Cambodian trio secured the international title after defeating Thailand, overcoming Malaysia in the semifinals, and beating Mongolia in the final. Junior Chamber International organised the annual Asia-Pacific conference from June 11 to 14, assembling young leaders from across the region.

State officials noted that this victory showcases the global capability of local students. Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport representatives released a statement yesterday praising the team for setting a proud milestone of academic excellence on the international stage.

The triumph underscores Cambodia’s rising prominence in competitive public speaking, indicating that increased institutional investment in youth development programmes is yielding significant regional success. This achievement reflects a growing national commitment to fostering high-level communication skills among the next generation of Cambodian leaders. AKP
