Cambodia is set to host the 38th Executive Board Meeting and the 25th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) in Phnom Penh this October.
In preparation for the regional gathering, the 7th VECONAC Working Committee Meeting was held virtually yesterday at the headquarters of the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioners Association in Kandal province. Delegates from across ASEAN reviewed draft resolutions, programme arrangements and strategic plans to ensure the success of the upcoming events.
General Meas Savan, Permanent Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioners Association and Secretary-General of VECONAC, chaired the meeting.
The summit will serve as a platform for representatives to exchange views and refine strategies aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of veterans, persons with disabilities and families of fallen soldiers across the region.
Cambodia assumed the VECONAC chair on January 1, for a one-year term. This will mark the second time the Kingdom has hosted these regional proceedings, following the 32nd Executive Board Meeting and 19th General Assembly held in Phnom Penh in 2019. Established in 1980, VECONAC comprises veterans’ associations from all ten ASEAN member states. AKP
