Artificial fish habitat structures reach 1,470 units as of June 2026. AKP
The deployment of Fisheries Productivity Structures (FPS), or artificial fish habitat structures, reached 1,470 units as of June 2026, marking a significant step in the Kingdom’s efforts to restore marine populations and strengthen coastal ecosystems.
According to the Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries (SCMF) Project, these structures are specifically designed to curb destructive trawling practices while providing stable environments for the breeding, growth and regeneration of marine resources.
The initiative represents a collaboration between the SCMF Project and Marine Conservation Cambodia (MCC), supported by the active participation of local fishing communities in the installation of the habitats. Project data indicates steady progress, with the number of structures rising from 1,250 in April to the current total of 1,470.
Beyond environmental restoration, the programme is expected to provide a foundation for sustainable fisheries management and support the long-term livelihoods of coastal communities. AKP
