Cambodia showcases cultural heritage and philanthropy at the 6th Asia Festival in Bulgaria. AKP
Royal Embassy of Cambodia Ambassador Chea Chanboribo promoted the Kingdom’s cultural heritage and commitment to international philanthropy during the 6th Asia Festival yesterday in the Bulgarian capital.Speaking at a Bulgarian News Agency headquarters press briefing, Ambassador Chanboribo emphasised the Kingdom’s expanding participation in the annual event, marking its second consecutive appearance under the current diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador said that Cambodia is proud to showcase its civilisation and tourism potential to the Bulgarian public and international community.

Aligning with the festival’s charitable mandate, Ambassador Chanboribo announced that all proceeds from Cambodian product sales would benefit a local foundation supporting children battling cancer. The Cambodian pavilion attracted significant attention from attendees, featuring high-definition promotional videos that highlighted national economic development and the rapidly growing tourism sector.

A central highlight of the cultural programme featured musical performances by young Cambodian talents Lita and Vathana, children of Royal Embassy of Cambodia First Secretary Hong Angkearbosp. The duo performed the traditional song “Phnom Penh” and the Indonesian classic “Bengawan Solo,” earning warm applause from visiting diplomats. The diplomatic mission noted that such performances demonstrate how the younger generation preserves national heritage while acting as global ambassadors.

The festival also facilitated unique cross-cultural exchanges, including an interactive martial arts exhibition. During the event, the South Korean Ambassador to Bulgaria invited the Cambodian envoy to participate in a traditional Taekwondo board-breaking demonstration. Ambassador Chanboribo completed the challenge, later reflecting that sports and culture serve as powerful tools for fostering bilateral friendships.

Officials said that using cultural diplomacy to bridge geopolitical distances remains a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s foreign policy strategy. By leveraging youth-led artistic performances and charitable initiatives, Cambodia continues to build soft power in Eastern Europe, ensuring that its national identity resonates with diverse international audiences.
