The fourth meeting of the National Organising Committee for the preparation of the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia is set to host in 2026, was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The meeting focused on reviewing progress in key areas of preparation, as presented by the six sub-committees responsible for different aspects of the Summit’s organisation, including logistics, security, communications, protocol, infrastructure, and substantive programmes.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister carefully reviewed the proposals and updates submitted by the sub-committees and provided several observations to improve ongoing efforts. He also issued recommendations to strengthen inter-committee coordination, boost efficiency, and address remaining challenges promptly.
Sokhonn said the importance of thorough planning and close collaboration among all relevant institutions to ensure the effectiveness and success of the preparatory work. He highlighted that hosting the Francophonie Summit presents a significant opportunity for Cambodia to showcase its organisational capability, cultural heritage, and commitment to the values of the Francophonie community.
He encouraged all sub-committees to maintain momentum, strictly adhere to established timelines, and work proactively to ensure that the 20th Francophonie Summit is conducted smoothly and in line with the highest international standards.
Cambodia’s hosting of the 2026 Francophonie Summit is expected to bring together leaders and representatives from French-speaking countries and governments, further enhancing the Kingdom’s role and visibility within the global Francophonie framework. AKP
