130km National Road from Kratie to Kampong Thom planned

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport held a meeting to discuss the project to build a new national road from Kratie to Kampong Thom with financial cooperation from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Mr. Sokhom Pheakvan Mony, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, who co-chaired the meeting, emphasized that the meeting was held to discuss the master plan to implement the construction project of National Road No. 60B and discuss the change of alignment, including the study and feasibility study on the impact of the people and other challenges to push the construction project to be able to carry out good results.

Former Prime Minister Hun Sen announced plans to build a bridge across the river in Kratie province at the closing ceremony of the ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh.

At the same time, the former Prime Minister of Cambodia also raised the issue of the project to build a new national road from Kratie to Kampong Thom, which will facilitate faster travel.

Mr. Saing Buntheng, Director of Kratie Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, stated that the project to build National Road No. 60B (Kratie City) – Kampong Thmor – Kampong Thom) plans to use cooperative loans from the People’s Republic of China.

National Road No. 60B, according to the study, is more than 130 kilometers long, connecting the Kratie provincial bridge, which is under construction through Prek district with an intersection to Kampong Thmor, Kampong Thom province.

Mr. Saing Buntheng continued that through this road project, it will contribute to the economic development of Kratie province by promoting the growth of Travel of tourists from the central region to the northeast, which will promote the development and improve the lives of people.
