“I am very happy that Kep, Kampot, and Phnom Penh cities have won the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award, and I consider these awards to be a catalyst for the growth of tourism in Cambodia,” she said.
She urged other cities and provinces that were unsuccessful this time round to make their places more attractive, clean and beautiful to attract more visitors, and improve their services to meet tourists’ needs.
Hout Hay, Phnom Penh deputy governor, said yesterday that he was very happy that Phnom Penh won the first class of ASEAN Clean Tourist City for 2024–2026, while Kep city won second class and Kampot won third class.
“We are proud of the people and our authorities for making the city clean and tidy, especially by improving tourism services to warmly welcome all visitors to Phnom Penh,” he said.
He said that this award will attract more tourists to Phnom Penh, as the capital city is now ranked ninth in the Asian region.
Kep provincial governor Som Piseth said this result came from the hard work of all provincial leaders, together with local authorities at all levels, especially the participation of the people throughout Kep.
He appealed to tourism operators and the private sector to continue to develop better hospitality skills and services, especially tourism packages with affordable prices to attract more tourists to Kep.
Som Chenda, Director of the Kep Provincial Department of Tourism, said yesterday that the award is the result of the good work of all parties involved in organising infrastructure and tourism services.
