The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) has supported Cambodia’s Chakra Strategy on Environment.The initiative was highlighted by Martina Otto, Head of the CCAC Secretariat, during a meeting with Eang Sophalleth, Cambodian Minister of Environment, at the Climate Conference in Belém, Brazil, on Nov. 18.

Eang Sophalleth underlined that the Ministry of Environment has successfully implemented the “Today I Do Not Use Plastic Bags” campaign, with approximately 14 million participants from the Cambodian population.

The Ministry of Environment is implementing a Carbon Neutral Community Project on an island, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy use, industrial processes, agriculture, and waste, and on their absorption by forests, especially mangrove forests, the minister added.

Martina Otto appreciated the Ministry of Environment, under the leadership of the Minister, for having a clear strategy and a comprehensive vision.

She supported the Carbon-Neutral Community initiative and participated in learning sessions to support its further expansion with local communities. AKP
