Som Dech Hun Sen meets senior Chinese official to boost party ties

Former Cambodian Prime Minister and ruling party leader Hun Sen met with a senior Chinese Communist Party (CPC) official on Monday to deepen ties between the two nations’ dominant political forces.Somdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), hosted Xie Chuntao, Executive Vice President of the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the CPP’s headquarters in Phnom Penh.

The meeting followed a 2024 invitation and focused on “party-to-party cooperation,” according to CPP spokesperson Chea Thyrith.

Xie Chuntao, a member of the 20th CPC Central Committee, said the visit aimed to consolidate a “close and cooperative partnership” through increased personnel exchanges and human resource development.

Somdech Hun Sen reaffirmed the ironclad friendship between the two countries and called for expanded joint capacity-building programmes. AKP
