H.E. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore, described his recent visit to Cambodia as short but meaningful.
In a social media post last night, H.E. Lawrence Wong wrote, “Just concluded a short but meaningful introductory visit to Cambodia. Had a good meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet — we reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties, and discussed ways to deepen cooperation, including in emerging areas such as renewable energy, carbon credits and food security.”
Regarding the tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, he highlighted the need for both sides to exercise restraint and de-escalate the situation, and continue with dialogue to resolve the matter amicably, in accordance with international law.
In today’s uncertain global environment, he underlined, ASEAN countries cannot afford to let disputes divide us. It is in our collective interest to work together to preserve peace, strengthen regional stability, and deepen ASEAN integration.
“Thank you once again to Cambodia for the warm hospitality!” he concluded.
H.E. Lawrence Wong and his spouse paid a one-day official visit to Cambodia on July 2. During the visit, he was granted a Royal Audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and paid a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate.
The Singaporean Prime Minister also held a bilateral meeting with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace. The two leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on further strengthening the long-standing relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries.AKP
