Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Tea Seiha said that the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) are prepared to defend the nation under all circumstances.
“The Thai military has accused our RCAF of turning their weapons on Thai military bases and barracks. This is Cambodia’s national defence strategy. When we are armed, we have to protect our territorial integrity. The goal is clearly to target the enemy. No army has ever turned weapons on their own motherland,” he shared on his social media yesterday afternoon.
Seiha said that the peaceful option involves negotiations between the two governments in political, economic, and other areas, whereas military action should be the last resort.
“We are ready to defend Cambodian territory without any ambition to invade neighbouring countries,” he said.
At the same time, the Ministry also rejected fake news claiming that Thai forces would invade Cambodia today.
The Ministry urged everyone to calm down and received information only from official sources, it added. AKP
