Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has expressed his deep appreciation for the achievements made by the Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia.

The Prime Minister made the remarks this morning while presiding over the inauguration of achievements at the Phnom Chum Sen Rikreay Royal Gendarmerie Training Centre and the commemoration ceremony of the 32nd Founding Anniversary of the Royal Gendarmerie (July 14, 1993 – July 14, 2025) in Kampong Chhnang province.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised the Royal Gendarmerie for actively fulfilling its duties in maintaining and protecting security and public order, preventing and suppressing criminal and military offences, strengthening law enforcement, and assisting citizens during disasters.

On the same occasion, the Prime Minister reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia’s firm stance on bringing the cases of Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Tauch Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, and the Mom Bei area before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). For the remaining unresolved border issues, he affirmed that Cambodia will continue to rely on bilateral mechanisms to peacefully resolve disputes and clarify territorial boundaries.

H.E. Gen. Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia, recalled that the Royal Gendarmerie was originally established on Sept. 27, 1957, but its operations were suspended from April 17, 1975, to July 14, 1993.

Since its re-establishment, the Royal Gendarmerie has focused on training and human resource development, strengthening its organisational structure, and fulfilling its core responsibilities.

The force has strictly adhered to the principles of legality, discipline, ethics, and professionalism. It has played an essential role in crime prevention and suppression, safeguarding national security and public order, contributing to the building of a rule-of-law state, and responding to emergencies and disasters to assist the people, underlined H.E. Gen. Sao Sokha.
