Ministry of Information vows to safeguard national sovereignty through strategic communication

The Ministry of Information will maintain a proactive role in managing public opinion to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Minister Neth Pheaktra said yesterday.Speaking at the opening of the ministry’s annual meeting, Pheaktra said the department’s performance over the seven months of border tensions with Thailand, which lasted from May 28, 2025 until yesterday, was commendable. He said that the ministry played a crucial role in providing the public with clear, accurate, and timely updates throughout the crisis.
“The Ministry of Information will further reform to take a more proactive and responsible role in supporting Cambodia’s sustainable development,” the minister emphasised.
Pheaktra urged local media practitioners to uphold professionalism and adhere to strict codes of conduct to ensure responsible journalism across the kingdom.
Chea Sundaneth, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, added that the ministry acts as a catalyst for strengthening democracy. She said that the government is currently working with various stakeholders to expand professional training programmes for staff and journalists, both domestically and internationally. AKP
