Minister of Information: Cambodia has used real information to neutralize fake news, showing the truth to the international stage regarding the border dispute with Thailand

“Cambodia has not distorted any information regarding the border dispute with Thailand, but Cambodia has been spreading the truth. Therefore, when Cambodia’s true news and Thailand’s false news meet, in the end, Thailand will be disgraced in the world,” the Cambodian Minister of Information stated.

Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra stated that, during the Cambodia-Thai border dispute, some Thai journalists and media outlets faced significant criticism, along with the fabrication of fake news from the Thai side.

He added that the Cambodian government used real information to neutralize fake news to present the truth to the international stage regarding the border dispute with Thailand.

This statement by the Minister of Information of Cambodia was made on the occasion of the Minister’s opening of a training course on “Promoting Law Enforcement and Internal Administrative Management” on the morning of August 11, 2025.

Minister Neth Pheaktra said: “Thailand has used a fake news strategy, and their information strategy is a strategy of slander and provocation to create an excuse to attack us immediately, thus causing the Thai people to receive incorrect information regarding the border dispute with Cambodia . ”

Minister Neth Pheaktra said that when the Cambodian and Thai sides agreed on a ceasefire between the two armies, Thai journalists spread false information to their citizens that during the five-day war with Cambodia, the Thai army controlled all 11 battlefields.

However, the real truth is that the Thai army leadership and Thai journalists have only deceived their own citizens.

Minister Neth Pheaktra added that recently, the commander of the 2nd Thai Region also distorted through his media that in the 5-day war, the Thai army fired on Cambodian troops, causing more than 3,000 deaths in the battle.

“Cambodia has not distorted any information regarding the border dispute with Thailand, but Cambodia has been spreading the truth. Therefore, when Cambodia’s true news and Thailand’s false news meet, in the end, Thailand will be disgraced in the world,” the Cambodian Minister of Information added.

Minister Neth Pheaktra said that Thailand has copied Cambodia’s culture, architecture, temples, and traditions.

In connection with this, the Minister of Information of Cambodia also recalled that before the border dispute with Cambodia, the Thai side also used the strategy of spreading dirty information and distorting the truth in all kinds of ways, with the intention of misleading the Thai people themselves and international public opinion to misunderstand Cambodia.

After a series of falsehoods, some journalists and media outlets have been accused of becoming mouthpieces for the Thai state, failing to verify information provided by the government and military.

They have been seen to be biased and even playing the role of warmongers.
