King thanks President Xi for congratulatory message

After receiving a congratulatory message from Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his coronation, King Norodom Sihamoni highlighted the strong and enduring relations between Cambodia and China.

On Monday King Sihamoni sent a letter to Xi, expressing gratitude for the message and emphasising the deepening ties between the two nations.

“Noting with deep satisfaction that our joint guidance ushered in a new era of the building of high-quality, high-level and high-standard Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future, I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency in the years ahead to even further deepen our Diamond Cooperation Framework,” the King said.

“Your Excellency’s attentive words of congratulations and this important gesture are very encouraging to me and are testimonies of the traditional iron-clad friendship and fraternity between Cambodia and China,” he added.

King Sihamoni also expressed his appreciation for President Xi’s leadership in guiding China to greatness and thanked China for warmly welcoming his family during their stay in the country.

“I wish to express my deepest appreciation for Your Excellency’s unswerving close friendship with the Cambodian Royal Family and for the warm reception and gracious hospitality rendered to me, Her Majesty my August Mother and our delegation during our stays in China. We always take with us fond memories of our visits in your beautiful country.”

“May I also congratulate Your Excellency and your heroic people on the impressive dazzling speed of development and transformation of the People’s Republic of China,” he added.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of King Sihamoni’s coronation on October 29, Cambodia was gifted a motorcade of 12 high-end Hongqi luxury cars, the Chinese equivalent of Rolls-Royce, to be used by the King for his humanitarian activities.

In a separate gesture, Xi also sent his congratulations to King Sihamoni, marking the significant milestone of the King’s 20th anniversary of coronation.

In his message, Xi praised King Sihamoni’s vital role in promoting peace and development in Cambodia.

“Your Majesty, deeply loved and revered by the Cambodian people since the coronation, has made great contributions to Cambodia’s peace, stability, prosperity and international exchanges. I believe that with Your Majesty’s blessing, the diligent and wise Cambodian people will harvest success after success in national development,” Xi said.

Xi also appreciated the strong partnership of Cambodia and China and also expressed future collaboration.

“China and Cambodia are iron-clad friends that have stood together through thick and thin. I attach great importance to the development of China-Cambodia relations and cherish the traditional friendship with the Cambodian Royal Family. I stand ready to work with Your Majesty to enhance strategic guidance of our bilateral relations and deliver more fruitful results of the building of China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future,” Xi said.
