The Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) and SATO KOGYO Co. Ltd signed a contract agreement for the project “construction of training facilities at the Technical Institute of Mine Action in Kampong Chhang Province and the Outreach Facilities (Techo Peace Museum) in Siem Reap province”.
The signing ceremony was held on 14thFebruary 2024 at CMAC’s Headquarters in Phnom Penh by Heng Ratana, director general of CMAC and Jun KATO Director of SATO KOGYO Co. Ltd.
Heng Ratana said that,“this project construction costs over 2,079 million Yens or about$14 million and this project plans for an18-month period starting from this February 2024.”
He continued that the main purpose of this project is to promote technical landmines and the remnants of war cooperation through trainings in mine action for both in the country and in the global level. At the same time this project is to promote peace through advocacy and awareness for peace lovers and hatred war.
Training facilities namely 1. One conference hall building for around 400 trainees, 2. One of 10 classrooms building, 3. Two Accommodation buildings for 180 trainees, and 4. One Meal Hall and as well as 5. one outreach facilities (Peace Museum).
“Again, Thanks SamdachTechoformer Prime Minister and SamdachThipadei Prime Minister for strongly supporting this project.” Heng Ratana said, “At the same time, I wish to express my gratitude and thanks to the people and government of Japan for continued providing assistance to the People and Government of Cambodia in all terms private sector, public sector and humanitarian sector and in particular to CMAC.”
