General Chhum Socheat, Secretary of State and spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence, has categorically denied recent social media claims stating that the missing military helicopter has been found in the Cardamom Mountains.

In an official statement via social media, General Chhum Socheat clarified, “As of the evening of July 14, 2024, the missing helicopter has not been found in the Cardamom Mountains. Relevant units are still searching diligently.”

The response comes after various social media platforms posted false reports claiming, “Emergency information has been found.”

General Socheat stressed that all such posts were misinformation and urged the public to disregard speculative and baseless posts, asserting the importance of verified official information is the only reliable source in critical situations.

The helicopter in question disappeared on Friday, during a training exercise between Pursat and Koh Kong provinces. According to General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia, the helicopter had two occupants: a pilot and a co-pilot.
