China has reiterated its commitment to providing comprehensive support to Cambodia as the Kingdom steps up efforts to dismantle sophisticated, technology-driven scam operations and eradicate cybercrime networks.

The Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wenbin, provided assurance during a high-level meeting yesterday with Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister overseeing Special Missions and head of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS).

Sinarith lauded the strong security partnership between the two nations, noting that joint operations against cross-border technology crimes have already produced significant results.

He said the Cambodian Royal Government’s “firm and specific” stance on eradicating criminal hubs and prosecuting ringleaders.

“Cambodia will continue to collaborate with partner countries to ensure consistent enforcement operations aimed at dismantling criminal nests and uprooting these syndicates entirely,” the Senior Minister stated.

Ambassador Wang Wenbin expressed gratitude to the Cambodian authorities for their recent cooperation in arresting and extraditing Chinese masterminds and their accomplices to face prosecution in China. He described these successful deportations as “clear evidence” to the international community of Cambodia’s resolve to tackle cyber fraud.

The Ambassador said that Cambodia’s strategic action plan has increased international confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to combat these crimes. He reiterated that Beijing remains “ready and willing” to provide any necessary assistance to help Cambodia achieve its goal of completely eliminating technology-related crimes.

The meeting concluded with both parties discussing future operational steps and intelligence-sharing to enhance the efficiency of ongoing crackdowns on cybercriminal infrastructure in the region. AKP
