Cambodian deputy prime minister meets with Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth

As part of his official visit under the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship programme in Singapore, Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, held a working meeting with senior officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

During the meeting, MCCY representatives presented Singapore’s national-level initiative, the Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) programme. Introduced in 2016, this programme complements physical education in schools and focuses on developing 21st-century competencies among youth through Outdoor Living Skills.

The MCCY emphasised that the natural outdoor environment offers valuable learning opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. The programme is designed to enhance collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in real-life situations, thereby strengthening resilience, self-confidence, and leadership qualities in young people.

According to MCCY officials, since the implementation of the OAE framework, Singapore has become the first country among members of the Outward Bound International (OBI) network to formally integrate the Outward Bound programme into its national education curriculum. AKP
