The Cambodian Veterans Association and the Thai War Veterans Organisation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance friendship and cooperation between the two organisations, with a focus on improving the lives of veterans, particularly by providing artificial limbs. The MoU was signed by Kun Kim, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans Association, and General Detnitit Luangngamkum, Director-General of the Thai War Veterans Organisation, at a ceremony in Phnom Penh on Wednesday during Gen Detnitit’s visit with his delegation.

Kim noted that Cambodia and Thailand share a long history of friendship, having jointly fought for national liberation, independence, freedom, and sovereignty from colonialism and imperialism.

He noted that both countries have made significant progress in achieving peace and development, with strong communication, trade, and tourism exchanges between their border provinces.

Kim added that the positive outcomes are the result of strong cooperation and the maintenance of traditional and strategic friendships.

He expressed hope that the MoU would lead to successful outcomes for veterans, improving their lives through collaboration between the two associations.

The MoU is intended to deepen and strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two war veterans associations, with a shared responsibility to improve the well-being of veterans and their families.

Kim added that the signing reflects a mutual commitment to honouring the bravery and sacrifices of veterans and their families in securing freedom and peace.

Gen Detnitit also expressed optimism that the MoU would continue to deepen the relationship between the two organisations, enhancing the long-term stability of Cambodia-Thailand ties.

Later that day, Gen Detnitit met with General Tea Seiha, Minister of National Defence.

During their meeting, Gen Detnitit mentioned previous exchanges with veterans’ organisations from Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, highlighting the shared goal of caring for veterans and their families.
