Neth Pheaktra, the Minister of Information, highly appreciated the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in the field of information and audiovisuals and agreed to continue promoting the implementation of the MoU on Cooperation in Media signed in 2023, which focuses on information exchange, prevention of fake news, dissemination, and development of human resources in the information sector.
This assessment was made during a bilateral meeting with Le Hai Binh, the Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on Wednesday, within the framework of the 17th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information in Brunei Darussalam.
During the working meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to combatting fake news, which is becoming a regional and international problem, and considered the partnership between the two countries to be important in curbing fake news and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the flow of information.
Pheaktra also invited his Vietnamese counterpart to participate in the 20th Asia Media Summit, which Cambodia will host in Siem Reap in July 2025.
