The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) on Tuesday, officially launched the Capacity Development Platform (CDP), a nationwide digital learning system designed to transform teacher training and elevate the quality of education in Cambodia.
The launch ceremony was presided over by Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, with participation from Will Parks, UNICEF Representative to Cambodia, senior MoEYS leadership, and development partners.
The CDP, a digital Learning Management System (LMS), was initiated by MoEYS through its Department of Digital Transformation with financial support from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the European Union (EU) under the Education Capacity Development Partnership Fund Phase III (CDPF-III).
Designed for teachers, school leaders, pedagogical advisors, and education officials nationwide, the platform enables ministries, teacher training institutions, development partners, and education-focused NGOs to design, deliver, and manage professional development courses efficiently and at scale.
Naron emphasised that the launch of the CDP marks a significant milestone in Cambodia’s journey toward high-quality, technology-enhanced teacher education.
“The Capacity Development Platform represents a new era in Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening the teaching profession. Through the digitalisation of teacher training and continuous professional development, MoEYS is empowering educators with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to improve teaching and learning outcomes. This initiative reflects our dedication to innovation, equity, and excellence in education,” he said.
He noted that the CDP will enable all educators across the country to access ongoing professional learning opportunities, contributing to better classroom practices and improved student achievement.
According to MoEYs, Parks reaffirmed UNICEF’s strong commitment to supporting teachers as the cornerstone of a resilient education system.
He said that supporting teachers is about ensuring that all children, especially the most vulnerable, have the support they need to reach their full potential, both in the classroom and in everyday life. Therefore, capacity building workshops will play a key role in achieving these goals. By improving the quality of education and promoting equitable access to education, we can build a resilient education system and train highly skilled human resources for Cambodia’s future.
MoEYS called on teachers, school leaders, pedagogical staff, and education personnel nationwide to familiarise themselves with it and actively utilise the platform.Cr: KhmerTime
