King visits and gives gifts to people of Prey Veng province

King Norodom Sihamoni paid a visit to the 404 families living in Prey Rong and Trabek villages, Pean Rorng commune in Prey Veng province’s Svay Antor district on Sunday. While in the district, the King visited families at their homes.

The King presented gifts to families in the form of 50 kilogrammes of rice, a mosquito net, blanket, sarong, scarf, a box of noodles, one package containing 10 cans of fish, a pair of flip flops, one T-shirt and 100,000 Riels each.

After speaking with the villagers, the King met local school teachers who also received gifts, such as a mosquito net, blanket, sarong, scarf, a T-shirt and 50,000 riels each.

The 317 children who live in the villages received snacks, 5,000 Riels each, a T-shirt and shorts, and some study materials.

The King expressed his pleasure in meeting villagers, and also gave a greeting message from Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.

The King said: “Our Kingdom of Cambodia has made great strides in bringing the country to full peace, political peace and prosperity in all sectors across the country.”

He added that currently, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, there is peace, political stability, as well as the development of the country in all areas and the the people’s living conditions have improved.

The King also commended the Governor of Prey Veng province Soun Somalin for his efforts to successfully carry out all tasks for the people throughout the province.

Duch Kunthea, deputy governor of Prey Veng province, said yesterday that the King’s visit was well received by the people living in the province especially the residents of Svay Antor district.

He added that from 2022 to the end of 2023, the King has visited Prey Veng province nine times. On eight of those occasions he went to Me Sang district to meet the people, while on this trip, the ninth, he came to Svay Antor district.

“I am very pleased and proud that our King of Cambodia has visited the people in the countryside directly, which confirms his concern for the people throughout the country,” he added.

Kem Srey Neang, a resident of Svay Antor district, said that the King was generous, humble and came across as an ordinary person.“I have never met a king like this. Yesterday I met him in person. He was very generous, dressed modestly and he gave all of us an opportunity to meet him,” she said. Cr:/Khmertimekh
