His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia was in attendance to see the results of the Royal Plowing Ceremony on Sunday morning.

The ceremony was held at Preah Sre in the Department of Education, Youth and Sports in Chbar Morn City. Kampong Speu Province.

The Royal Plowing Ceremony is held every year in the month of Pisak and is one of the main ceremonies of the Golden Gate Festival.

This traditional royal ceremony is held in order to see the omens of the country according to the eating of “Usapreach” on 7 foods, including: rice, beans, corn, sesame, grass, water and wine.

Moreover, this royal ceremony is also a reminder to the Cambodian people, who rely mainly on agriculture, to know that the rainy season has arrived.

After three rounds of plowing as a symbol, the royal oxen were released to eat the seven kinds of food.

Of the seven foods, three were the most consumed, with 95% rice, 95% corn and 85% soybeans.

Through the consumption of the royal oxen , the priests foretold that these three agricultural crops would get better yields this year.
